Transparency is the feature handwriting animation tools most often put behind a subscription, alongside higher resolution and the better fonts. It is worth being concrete: here it is free, there is no export counter, there is no watermark on any format, and 4K is included. The site is funded by advertising on the page, not by the tool.
Two routes, and which to pick
PNG sequence — for Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve
A ZIP of numbered PNGs with true per-pixel alpha, including the soft anti-aliased edges of the strokes, in your own ink colour. No keying, no matte, no quality loss: import the first PNG as an image sequence and it arrives as one clip that is already transparent. In Premiere Pro that is File ▸ Import, select the first PNG and tick Image Sequence.
The catch is size, so it starts at 15 fps — handwriting reads perfectly well at 15, and 10 and 12 are there for long clips. The Export panel shows the projected ZIP size as you work, and turns export off before a sequence gets too big for the browser to build.
Transparent WebM — for OBS and web pages
One small file at exactly your canvas size, with a real transparent background and your ink colour. Add it to OBS as a Media Source, or use it on a web page — Chrome and Edge play it with its transparency. It is recorded in real time, so it takes about as long as the animation lasts, and it tops out at 30 fps.
Two things it will not do: Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve cannot import WebM at all, and Safari does not play the transparency. For editing, use the PNG sequence. Recording it needs Chrome or Edge; in other browsers the option says why it is unavailable.
Luma matte MP4 — a mask, not a transparent file
White writing on pure black in an ordinary H.264 file, with your ink colour thrown away. On its own it looks like a black rectangle — that is what a matte is. It is only useful if your editor can apply it as a luma track matte to a colour layer, or if you blend it with Screen over dark footage.

Every file shows the writing once, at your canvas size
An earlier version also offered an “alpha-packed” MP4: a double-height file with the picture on top and its mask underneath, so every export showed the writing twice and had to be cut apart in an editor. It is gone. MP4 has no alpha channel, and every way of faking one costs either the colour (a matte) or the layout (stacking). The PNG sequence and the transparent WebM carry real transparency instead.
How to export
- Type your text and style it as you like.
- In the Export panel, set Background to Transparent. The preview switches to a checkerboard so you can see exactly what you are getting.
- Pick Transparent — PNG sequence for Premiere & Resolve for editing, or Transparent — WebM for OBS & the web. MP4 and plain WebM leave the list — they cannot store transparency.
- Press Export. Encoding happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Is transparent export really free?
Yes, and unlimited, with no watermark and no account.
Does it work in Premiere Pro, After Effects or DaVinci Resolve?
Yes — use the PNG sequence. All three import it as an image sequence that is already transparent. They cannot import the transparent WebM.
Does it work in CapCut?
For white or light writing over footage, the luma matte with the Screen blend mode works in CapCut. Transparent WebM support in CapCut is unreliable, so test a short clip before you rely on it.
What resolution can I export?
Any even size from 160 to 4096 px on either side, including 1080×1920 for Reels, 1080×1080 square and 3840×2160 4K. The luma matte, being an MP4, stops at about 9.4 megapixels a frame (4096×2304); the PNG sequence has no such limit. The frame count and estimated file size are shown live before you commit.
Can I export Hindi, Bengali or Arabic on a transparent background?
